Ann Leckie is the author of the Hugo, Nebula, and Arthur C. Clarke Award winning novel Ancillary Justice. For a discussion of the book in audio format, which I had the pleasure of experiencing, see the post An Audio-Book Treat–Ann Leckie’s Ancillary Justice Narrated by Celeste Ciulla.
Leckie has three science fiction novels to her credit, consisting of the Imperial Radch trilogy Ancillary Justice, Ancillary Sword and Ancillary Mercy. The novels feature a main character Breq that, as the stories begin, was once a colossal AI starship, but has been reduced to a single ancillary “corpse soldier” body. Leckie has a wonderful voice and presents an intriguing, complex universe in which her stories unfold.
Leckie has also published many short stories, including stories in Subterranean Magazine, Strange Horizons, and Realms of Fantasy. She has worked as a waitress, a receptionist, a rodman on a land-surveying crew, and a recording engineer.
If you’ve read any of her work, you know that Ann Leckie is a science-fiction writer to watch.
